A Few Words About ZanQue
Zanque Aqua Farms Ltd is a company based in Zanzibar, Tanzania. The company was established in 2004 and operates mainly in Zanzibar and some areas in Tanzanian mainland. We specialize in developing and exporting of high quality seaweed. The company provides farming inputs to farmers and in return sell their seaweed back to the company, similar to contract farming. Since its establishment it has focused in developing the seaweed industry by providing its farmers with continuous training and knowledge in best farming practices
When the company was established in 2004, it started with 4 employees and producing around 300 tons of seaweed a year. Today it employs 22 permanent employees and proudly handling more than 450 seaweed farmers in the islands of Zanzibar and mainly being women and producing over 3,000 Metric tons of Seaweed a year. The safety of the farmers and employees is the main priority for the company and takes due diligence on these issues.
Our operation based in coastal villages in the rural areas where most people live in these villages depends on sea activities and small-scale land farming for their daily livelihood, many engaged in seaweed farming. The company works very closely with local and central government in creating better life in these villages.
